This is my first entry into this forum. I'm a beginning student of philosophy and I'm specially interested in the practise of Yoga. I have been meditating for quite some time now and although I have made some progression, when I read about the states of Dhyana and the several states of Samadhi I can't help wondering if there is anybody (within my reach) who has personally experienced any of these states of mind and could tell me about it.
I myself try to use the technique of meditation to analyze situations in which certain aspects of my subconscious come up and distort my perception and action in order to come to an understanding and to finally overcome these states of being identified.
As I said, there is some progress and I can affirm that in some sort of way the mind comes to rest and I obtain a deeper understanding; but according to Yoga there comes a moment in which the meditater sees the essence of the object of meditation and this is only an initial step. Further on the meditator becomes one with the object e.tc.
If there is anyone who could tell me from his/her own experience about meditation I would be thankful. I,m specially interested in the experience of the Dhyana state.
In hopeful expectation, Ravin.
